在新书《我们生活在巨大的差距里》的首发会上，余华透露他的儿子余海果将执导《许三观卖血记》的电影版，但还不方便透露进度和具体事宜，该片还处于严重保密阶段。此前新浪娱乐曾了解到，电影版《许三观》由制片人张伟平筹拍，其摄影师来自日本经典影片《入殓师》剧组，而该片的主演之一是女演员颜丙燕。
